Volunteer at Seward

Volunteering Hands

by Kerry Cashman | November 2019

We are so lucky to have a variety of volunteers at Seward! Every year we have a number of adults from the neighborhood who volunteer in our classrooms. Some come weekly and provide much-appreciated continuity for our staff. We also have students from many local colleges and universities who fulfill college requirements in our classrooms. The majority of these students come to us from Augsburg and Northwestern Colleges. We also have a new partnership with Cretin-Derham Hall High School. 20–25 high school students volunteer once a week in our pre-K through E2 (4th and 5th grade) classrooms.

Seward welcomes friends and family of all of our students to volunteer in the school and in our classrooms. We ask that all volunteers attend a brief volunteer orientation (once only) with Kerry Cashman, our Parent Liaison.

If you have questions, need an orientation, or want to get involved, please email kerry.cashman@mpls.k12.mn.us.

If you have completed orientation and are looking for a way to help, here are some current opportunities:

Monday, November 18th, we need a volunteer to help with the True Food Taste Test, 9:45 a.m.–12:30 p.m. We also need volunteers to help us when Phillips Eye Institute comes in to screen the kids’ vision.

We need two people at a time, on Tuesday, November 19th, 7:45 a.m.–1:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, November 20th, 7:45 a.m.–noon. If you can’t come in the entire time, that is no problem. Let me know how long you can be there for any of these opportunities. Email Kerry Cashman if you can help!

Thank you to all of our volunteers: We would not be the same school without you!
