School Social Worker:  Sara Stenger

I have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Criminal Justice from Carroll College and a Master of Social Work from the University of Minnesota.  My husband and I have 5 kids and two dogs.  I like watching baseball and hockey.  When the world opens up again and everyone can stay healthy, I hope to travel to Japan.

students! I went to University of Wisconsin-Stout for both degrees and have a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies and a Master of Science degree in K-12 School Counseling. I LOVE being a school counselor and I absolutely love being a Seward SHARK!
Three fun facts:
1. I got married this past summer to my husband Marlon (despite the pandemic) in my parent's backyard!
2. We got a puppy during the quarantine named McKinley. (I NEVER thought I would agree to getting a dog and now I own a "Dog Mom" hat.)
3. We are moving a few blocks away in the same Northeast Minneapolis neighborhood in September!

of  Minnesota Twin Cities (M.A. in Educational Psychology), University of  Minnesota Twin Cities (Ph.D. in Educational Psychology). I always have LOVED schools and working with children (babysitting, tutoring, working at daycare and youth homeless shelter, parenting my three sons, working as school psychologist). I love adventure and travel -- I have lived in six states and have visited more than 15 countries. I ask lots of questions because I love learning people's stories. Please tell me to stop if you want!

for Children: I have a Bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Psychology from Vanderbilt University and earned both my Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Developmental Psychology at U of MN. I love being part of this collaboration between Washburn and the MPS district, which allows children and families to have easier access to therapy services delivered right in the school setting. I also really enjoy being part of such a great community of students, families, and staff at Seward. A few fun facts about me: I really enjoy running and have successfully completed 3 marathons (so far!). At the end of the day, I enjoy taking a walk through my neighborhood with my husband and our 4 year-old dog, Karley. However, Karley has a lot of energy, so sometimes it’s hard to tell who is walking who! If you think your student would benefit from Washburn services, please contact the school social worker, Sara Stenger for more information.
