Seward Bike to School Program

Attention Seward cyclists! The Seward Montessori Bike to School Program is underway. Bike to school and earn points toward prizes and awards.

The program in a nutshell:

  1. Get a Seward Zap tag
  2. Register your tag
  3. Ride to school (and make sure you beep in).

We'll be in touch with you or announce your name if you win any awards or prizes. So far, every month we have been recognizing the top 10 riders with prizes.

The top student, staff and parent rider get a larger prize (generally a $10 Birchwood card, movie passes or bike shwag), but this month we are recognizing the top 30 riders plus having a team challenge.

We will also be recognizing the students, parents and staff that have logged the most trips the entire school year

How to get a tag:

  • Bring your helmet to Linda Fish in the office and she will attach a tag to your helmet
  • Spoke or helmet tags will be given out on site every Bike Friday in May

Registering your Tag:

A parent must register the tag online.  Each Seward Zap account requires a unique email address (e.g. you can't use the same email for you and your child).  Children may be registered without an email but they will not have access to their own web site.

How to win prizes:  Zap in at the wireless station near the bike racks on the East side of the school. (it will beep for you when you get Zapped) .  You get one point for every weekday ridden plus .25 points for every mile ridden.

More Information:

  • Contact us to have more than one tag associated with your account.
  • The old Boltage or Freiker tags are now obsolete (but they will still beep) If you're confused which tag is which, visit the Bike Board by the office to see samples.
  • Log in to to your manage your account, including resetting your password, and to see your own ride stats, leaderboards, team challenge standings, prizes, etc.
  • Prizes and awards for top riders will not be given from December through February but rides through those months will still count toward the annual stats.
  • We have a "Bike Board" bulletin board up by the office.  The board lists information about the program, prizes, team standings, winners, and it also shows the old tags that won't work and what the new tags look like.
