Prevent the Spread of Flu at Seward

Hello, this is Jessica Patterson, the school nurse at Seward Montessori.

Recently there has been an increase in student absences due to influenza-like illness at Seward.

We'd like to remind you that if your child has a fever of 100 degrees or more with a cough or a sore throat, please keep your child home and tell your school about these symptoms. Your child must stay home until he or she is fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medication.

You should see a doctor if your child has any of these additional symptoms: trouble breathing, bluish skin, a rash, extreme irritability, a lack of energy, or if he or she is unable to drink enough water.

By keeping your child home we can help prevent spreading the flu in our schools.

For more information, contact our school nurse or the Minnesota Department of Health at 651-201-5414.

Thank you for your help.
