News and Notes from Principal Goetz

Principal Tammy Goetz

Dear Seward Families:

It is teacher appreciation week and it’s time to honor our amazing teachers for their hard work and dedication to almost 900 students! I often tell the staff that I don’t know many people who can handle the day to day responsibilities for educating and developing social and emotional skills for 30 or more children like they do! Our teachers support one another throughout the peaks and valleys of a school year, they come early and stay late in an effort to make Seward a great place to teach and learn.

In addition to great teachers and staff we have parents who make our learning community special. I am grateful to our parent leaders: Ellen Smart, chair of The Seward Montessori Site Council, Abdisalan Mohamed, chair of our Somali Parent Group, Tyson Niemeyer and Nicole Lexvold, co-chairs of our PTA, and Pam Berry for organizing and leading our building improvement efforts. In addition, there are hundreds of you who have helped Seward in big and small ways— from volunteering in classrooms to chairing committees it all adds up to a successful year at Seward.

Take time to enjoy any good weather that comes our way this spring and summer. I look forward to seeing you in the fall.
