Dear Seward Families:

Over 96% of you attended fall conferences at Seward in October! It’s the highest attendance rate since I have been at Seward. Thank you for taking time to meet with teachers, set goals and talk about your child’s strengths and areas for growth. If you missed conferences, it’s not too late to contact your student’s teacher or advisor and set a date and time to meet.

Seward will continue to offer IXL to all of our students during the 2014–15 school year while we explore other online options. Our staff and our site council recognize each math program will have pros and cons. We looked at implementing Dreambox, but it costs twice what we pay for IXL. We believe this will give us time to explore other programs and choose one that is within our budget.

Our School Improvement Plan (SIP) is complete. Our goals are to improve our MCA reading, math and science scores by 3%. You can see our action steps and strategies on “SIP at a Glance” on our website. Copies are also available in the office.

For safety and security reasons, all parents, volunteers and visitors must sign in and get a visitor sticker in our office. You will also need to sign out. Thanks in advance for helping us keep Seward Montessori safe for our learning community.
