Eve Bassinger - Pre-K/High Five

Hello, and welcome to the Seward community! I am proud to be a part of Seward's staff as your High Five (Pre-K) teacher. A little bit about me: I have been teaching in the Minneapolis Public Schools since 1990, and have had classrooms in second, first, kindergarten and High Five positions; along with teaching as a Gifted/Talented specialist. I have a bachelor's degree in elementary education (Augsburg University) ; a master's degree in early childhood education (University of Minnesota); and a Montessori credential (American Montessori Society) from my post graduate work at the University of Wisconsin River Falls. I am committed to providing your child with an excellent educational experience I am focused on engaging each child in the learning process through a carefully crafted, specialized environment where each learner is free to explore and reach their full potential. My focus is on each individual child, and how I can facilitate his/her learning through independent choice and promoting curiosity by providing extensions and applications of the materials in the classroom. One tenet of the Montessori philosophy is, " Follow the child". This is how our High Five classroom is set up: to provide learning experiences that encourage growth and development according to each child's terms. I am always striving to engage and extend each child's learning, and I look forward to teaming with you to know your child and his/her individual needs. I find great satisfaction in this work! On a personal note: I have 3 children of my own (and a husband, Todd): Brett, my oldest, is a student at Metro State University, and lives with us in our home in Minneapolis. My daughter, Berit, lives in New York City, and is in college working toward a music degree. My youngest daughter, Ingrid, is a nurse and lives in Minneapolis, also. I hope this gives you an idea about my enthusiasm for our youngest (and most precious) resource: our children. I look forward to knowing each of you in this oming school year. Most sincerely, Eve
