Kia Britain

Hello, my name is Kia Britain.

I have had the pleasure of teaching since 2009. I am a native Minnesotan and attended the U of M Twin Cities for undergraduate studies. I received my K-12 reading licensure from Hamline University in St. Paul and hold a Master’s in Education with a concentration in TESOL and Reading from Concordia University in Portland, Oregon.

I have a dog named Lando and a cat named Bill Shakespeare. When not teaching, I enjoy yoga, going for walks with my dog, and of course reading! My favorite books are the Harry Potter Series and the Elephant and Piggie books!

Kelly Oltman: I have taught at Seward Montessori for twenty two years.  I received

my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota and I attended the College of St. Catherine for my Masters of Arts degree in Montessori Education.  I returned to the University of Minnesota to earn an additional Reading Licensure in 2011.  I am married and I have two children named Samuel (18) and Dinko (14).  I love seeing the world and have been to five of the seven continents, and I hope to visit Antarctica and Australia in years to come.  I also like taking long road trips that get us away from cell towers and wifi.  One of my favorite things to do is to sit around a campfire and listen to my children’s stories.  As a reading teacher, it is not a surprise that I enjoy books too.  I love how books provide a window into lives, times and worlds different than my own.
