Kaisa Lee - School Counselor
My name is Kaisa Lee and I am the school counselor here at Seward! I grew up in Chisago City, MN and went to college at the University of Wisconsin-Stout for my Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies and my Master's degree in School Counseling. I have been a school counselor for Minneapolis Public Schools since 2009 and have been at Seward since 2011. I absolutely love what I do and have a passion for helping students be successful and overcome any obstacles they may face during such a pivotal time in life.
As a school counselor I work within the academic, social/emotional, and career areas of the American School Counseling Association model to support the needs of our students. I work with students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom. Working with students individually or in small groups I help support academics by tracking grades, helping students find ways to improve their grades, learn better study/academic skills, and provide information to families about how to better support learning at home. I also am here to help students within the social/emotional areas such as helping students navigate friendships, strengthen communication skills, and work to solve problems effectively. I also am here to support students with any issues that may be going on outside of school that is inhibiting them from learning at school. In the classroom, I teach a variety of lessons that focus on careers, academic skills, and social/emotional topics as well. With all the communication devices students have access to, there comes a need for teaching them how to prevent and deal with the drama that can accompany those means of socializing.
