Join the Seward Building Improvement Committee

The Seward Building Improvement Committee, which is open to all parents, is working on behalf of students, staff and parents to advocate for a better building for our kids to learn in, and our teachers to teach in.

On November 8, the committee met with District administrators to share the critical space needs that exist at Seward. They heard that Seward is a sought-after school with a waiting list, but our building inadequacies are a limiting factor in our student’s academic success. Travis Beck, a Seward parent and architect, presented three building expansion options to District Staff. These were well received, and various other options were discussed. Steve Flisk, Area B Superintendent, acknowledged Seward’s needs, but stated that other schools have needs as well and there is no money available right now for capital improvements.

So, at this time, the Seward school community needs to continue our conversations with District staff so that they know that the concerns are ongoing. Seward is near the top of the district’s priority list; we will hear more about this at our next meeting. If you are concerned about the inadequacies of Seward’s building, please join us next week, Thursday, December 13 from 2:30-3:30 in the Media Center. Questions?
