Minneapolis Public Library Central Library Grand Opening

Four new floors of books, with public art installations, a coffee shop, and new gallery space.

Outdoor activities all day, including performances by The Splatter Sisters, Teddy Bear Band, The Maroons, Mu Daiko, Karibuni, Ragamala, Ensemble Mezze, Fuego Flamenco, and Northern Gael, and appearances by the Heart of the Beast Puppet Theatre.

Indoor activities include Famous librarians from history (e.g., Elvis, Benjamin Franklin) roaming throughout the building, storybook characters and children's activities inside the Children's Library, environmental presentations, author readings, and architectural talks.

Metro Transit is offering free rides to the Library, to riders who show their Minneapolis library card.
