Seward Site Council is intended to be an advisory board that represents all stakeholders of the school community. All Minneapolis Public Schools have a Site Council to support site-based decision making to increase academic outcomes for our students. Our site council consists of the principal, teachers, and parents. We work collaboratively to identify common goals, share perspectives and knowledge of the school’s needs, advise the school principal on school-based decisions, review and advise on the School Improvement Plan, review and help develop the Family Involvement Plan, and review and provide guidance on the use of Title 1 funds and Compensatory Revenue. We also co-host the school's monthly Roundtable meeting with the Principal and PTA to engage the whole community.
Our goal is to build a Site Council that reflects the make-up of Seward. As such, we are especially eager to welcome the participation of parents who identify as (and/or have perspective on students' experiences who identify as) BIPOC, Queer, Neurodiverse, Living with disability, English Language Learners, etc. Would you consider serving on the school's site council? If so, virtual meetings are once per month on Friday morning (8-9 AM). The next meeting will be held on Friday, October 29th at 8:00 AM. Find the link on the school online calendar. We look forward to seeing you there!
