COME MEET THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL CONSULTANTS!

JOIN US TUESDAY, MARCH 3 from 6:30-8:00 pm for a WORKSHOP regarding the Safe Routes To School plan. Childcare will be available for school age children. This meeting will be held in the Seward Montessori cafeteria. PLEASE NOTE: The school doors will NOT be open. You must enter through the Matthews Park Building.

WHY SHOULD I COME?

The Safe Routes To School consultant team will be sharing their preliminary concepts for infrastructure improvements as well as discussing biking and walking programs. MUCH OF THIS MEETING WILL BE DEVOTED TO GETTING YOUR FEEDBACK ON THESE INITIAL RECOMMENDATIONS. This meeting will not be the last chance to give feedback on Seward Montessori's Safe Routes To School initiatives, but it is an important time to help shape the plan's priorities.

WHAT ELSE CAN I DO TO SHOW I CARE ABOUT THE SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL INITIATIVES?

Fill in your Seward Montessori wikimap route! The goal of this website is to show the city, our consultants, and our students all of the different routes one can take to get to school when biking or walking. There are currently over a dozen routes and several notes in place! Check it out at… http://wikimapping.com/wikimap/MnDOT-Safe-Routes-to-School.html.

VOLUNTEER! Thanks to the work of Seward parent Hillary Oppmann we have secured ADDITIONAL FUNDS to help boost our biking and walking programs, but we need MORE VOLUNTEERS to make them happen this spring! Can you help?

Projects Include:

  • School Patrol expansion and incentives
  • School Bus Stop and walk
  • Walking school buses
