Dear Seward Families:

The New Year has gotten off to a great start! This is typically the time of year when students need additional encouragement to do their best in school and do their homework. We have some terrific events coming up that support student achievement. Our Book Fair and Read Around will take place at the beginning of February. Every Seward student has an online IXL Math account. It can be accessed via your home computer or a library computer to work on math skills. Our 7th and 8th grade students are getting ready for History Day. These are great learning opportunities for our students and I hope you and your children will be able take advantage of them.

Prospective kindergarten parents are touring our school. I am grateful to our Parent Liaison, Mary Delander for arranging the tours. I know parents who are part of the tour appreciate being in our kindergarten and E-1 classrooms as opposed to a “walk through” of the building. I am also grateful to our Children’s House and E-1 teachers and students for welcoming guests into their classrooms. Parents who visit comment that they hear so many good things about Seward. I believe you, our staff, our volunteers, and students are the best marketing tools we have. I appreciate that you spread the good news about Seward and know that, together, we strive to improve our school.

I received this compliment from a Middle School Lead teacher who observed our 6th–8th grade classes last week:

It was very evident that your staff is open and welcoming with each other and guests in their rooms. It was also exciting to see the broad range of activities happening in your classrooms.

It’s great to hear this about our middle school. It is a reflection of the commitment the middle school team and parents have to a top notch learning environment for our middle school students.

I am proud to be the principal at Seward and am grateful to all of you who make it a great place to teach and learn.

Sincerely,

Tammy Goetz
Seward Principal
