News and Notes from Principal Goetz

Principal Tammy Goetz

Dear Seward Families:

Many thanks to the PTA, Mary Delander, Verlene Green and the Seward Staff for a terrific start to the school year! Our open house and first week of school were huge successes! The first two–three weeks of school are spent getting routines established, creating a learning community and assessing students in math and literacy. There is value in establishing routines at home as well. Three routines that benefit your student are:

  1. Get you student(s) to school on time.
  2. Read, read, read…Read to your child, with your child or have a time set aside for reading every night.
  3. IXL is a great way for your student to work on math for 10–20 minutes every night.

Please take time to access the Seward Montessori web page at: http://seward.mpls.k12.mn.us. You will find up to date information about our school and an updated calendar of events. Thanks again to Abby, Pete and Liz for getting our website up to date!

The Seward staff and I invite you to be our partner in your child’s education. Please communicate your questions and concerns with your child’s teacher. You are welcome to contact me as well.

I will plan to see you at either the E-1 (September 17) or E-2 (September 10) Information nights or at the School Picnic on September 20.

Sincerely,

Tammy Goetz
Seward Principal
