Family Garden Day is Saturday, May 17th, 2014 | 10:30am - 12:30pm - all are welcome!
Hello families and friends of the Seward Peace Garden - Its time to get the garden ready for our students to plant! Join us in the garden to do a little spring clean-up, add compost, spread wood chips, and make signs for our many specialty gardens.
Midwest Food Connection is working with all E2 classrooms this Spring and upcoming Fall, and as part of their lesson plan, we will be planting a Grain Garden, a Winter Vegetable Garden, and a Spring Salad garden. Other gardens planted will include a Three-Sisters garden with beans, sunflowers, corn, squash, and Pizza Garden with herbs, tomatoes and peppers.
Karen, our garden loving Science teacher, will be bringing Children's House and E1 students out to plant seeds to help us have a flourishing garden this summer and Fall.
Wonder what becomes of those veggies during the summer? The Garden Gleaning group (local non-profit The Minnesota Project) comes in weekly to harvest ripe fruits and veggies and brings them to our neighborhood food shelf, The Waite House. Want to be a part of this community effort? Join us THIS Saturday for a Spring clean-up, make a sign, and join the garden community at Seward!
