Community Education
 
After School Community Education Enrichment class registration packets are now available.  We will be starting the fall after school session October 10th!  Please follow the link to register for classes online.  http://youth.mpls.k12.mn.us/seward.html  Registration packet are also available in the main office.
 
Classes are first-come, first-serve. Get those forms in quickly! It is recommended that you turn completed forms in to the MAIN OFFICE rather than to your child’s teacher.
 
If you need a scholarship, you must call the Community Education office to discuss options or your child will not be registered. Scholarships are available, but forms turned in without payment will not be processed until you have spoken with the Coordinator about your request for a scholarship - 612.668.4964.
 
We will send home a confirmation letter when your child is officially enrolled in activities. Do not send your child to activities unless s/he has received a confirmation. If you have any questions please call Seward Community Ed office during office hours (10:00am - 1:00pm Monday and Wednesday).

Seward After School Youth Programs strive to provide high quality youth classes for students. Class instructors are trained in youth program quality standards to facilitate a safe and supportive environment that fosters youth empowerment, youth voice, and youth leadership. Class sizes are limited to 15 or fewer students. Snack and bussing are available. Sample activities include Cooking, Art Club, Global Traditions, Video Game Design, Choir, Knitting, Hula Hoops, Girls, Inc, Basketball and Leadership, Ymentors Literacy and Mentorship program, Jug Band, Rink Rats Hockey, Chess, and Bike Mechanics! Classes are open to 1st - 8th graders. We strive to keep classes affordable, and scholarships are available. Classes are first come, first serve so get forms in quickly! Lego-Robotics (GISE/GEMS)
Girls in Engineering, Mathematics, and Science (GEMS) and Guys in Science and Engineering (GISE) are after-school programs whose goal is for students to have measurable and significant gains in mathematics and science.  Fall of 2014 students will be engaged in learning the engineering design cycle through robotics and First Lego League.  This year’s robotic challenge is titled World Class Learning Unleashed.  For further information, please see the document below.

ALC
ALC is an after-school program available to 1st - 8th graders that provides children with additional math and/or reading interventions in order to support their individual academic growth.  Snacks are available to those who attend.  Academic is by invitation only.  

*Bussing is available for any student that is eligible for bussing during the regular school day.

*It is possible to participate in both ALC and Community Education.
